Excellent proxy switcher add-on

ZenMate is a proxy switcher add-on for both Chrome and Firefox that requires no knowledge of proxy switching. ZenMate encrypts and routes your internet traffic through a proxy in a different country so that you can surf the internet with more privacy. It also enables you to circumvent Geo-restrictions, allowing you to view content that would normally be blocked in your region.

High emphasis on privacy and speed

ZenMate encrypts traffic and cloaks your IP by routing it via the country of your choice. This not only protects your surfing but also allows you to access content that wouldn't normally be available in your region. Your data is also compressed, this means that browsing speeds are surprisingly fast for a proxy switcher. Streaming video can be a bit slow but the inconvenience is offset by the fact that you can watch content that is blocked outside of your region.

If you want to use services such as Hulu, Netflix and Pandora outside of the USA, then ZenMate does an excellent job. As regards how much it can genuinely protect your privacy, there can be no guarantees but ZenMate claim to take privacy issues very seriously. However, it does require your email address in order to setup.

Very easy to setup and use

Once you've installed it Zenmate, you simply have to enter your e-mail address to activate it. You don't need to sign-up or enter any activation codes, although it is questionable why a service which claims to allow you to surf anonymously requires any e-mail address.

The ZenMate status bar sits in the top-right corner of Firefox and turns green when you are protected. To manage it, just click on the green shield. What's really nice about ZenMate is the ability to switch between countries instantly. By default, your internet traffic is routed through Switzerland but you can change it to a UK, Hong Kong, US or German proxy instantly.

On the downside, there aren't many country proxies supported by ZenMate - although it's likely more will be added as it develops.

An easy and efficient proxy switcher

Along with Hola Unblocker, ZenMate is one of the better proxy add-ons out there.

In Softonic we scan all the files hosted on our platform to assess and avoid any potential harm for your device. Our team performs checks each time a new file is uploaded and periodically reviews files to confirm or update their status. This comprehensive process allows us to set a status for any downloadable file as follows:

Clean

It’s extremely likely that this software program is clean.

What does this mean?

We have scanned the file and URLs associated with this software program in more than 50 of the world's leading antivirus services; no possible threat has been detected.

Warning

This software program is potentially malicious or may contain unwanted bundled software.

Why is the software program still available?

Based on our scan system, we have determined that these flags are possibly false positives.

What is a false positive?

It means a benign program is wrongfully flagged as malicious due to an overly broad detection signature or algorithm used in an antivirus program.

We’d like to highlight that from time to time, we may miss a potentially malicious software program. To continue promising you a malware-free catalog of programs and apps, our team has integrated a Report Software feature in every catalog page that loops your feedback back to us.
